This new Elektric Band album rulez. So far I 'd say it's the most interesting album I've heard yet this year. There's a lot of great ideas going on inside each song. Being a sci-fi fan I personally enjoy the theme, but I don't think L Ron is the best writer of the genre. An album based on Jack Vance's Star King or Niven's Ringworld would be cooler but I can live with To the Stars. The playing and recording on this album is absolutely super. It's structure is similar to Inside Out but the writing is more gigantic. Weckl sounds so good too. Man I gotta go listen to it again.

I'm waiting to get out and get this....I just got tickets to see CCEB in November here in Upstate NY....first row in the balcony in the middle no less!! Then to see Vital Info shortly thereafter!!

L. Ron Hubbard is about the worst writer who ever lived. He only started selling books after founding Scientology, when his dopey minions were told to buy his work. There are rumors that he didn't even write half the stuff with his name on it. Don't get me started...

I perhaps could understand some sci-fi fans out there being 'into it' for just the fantasy aspects of it...MAYBE...
It IS founded on some pretty-much 'feel-good' emotions stuff, isn't it...which is not bad thing in & of itself...
But to follow it like some sort of religious doctrine or mantra/credo is a bit creepy/eerie & borderline dangerous, IMHO...very crazy "Hollyweird Chic" if you ask me...

As I wrote in another thread yesterday... Hubbard's son (L. Ron Hubbard Jr.) interview by Penthouse Mag in 1983 IS A MUST READ... Realising how deep Chick is into this is disappointing. At his level as a scientologist... He knows what's going on...

Hello All-

To the Stars is an interesting album, but for an album about Space, there sure isn't any!! Notes upon notes upon notes. Take a breath peeps! And, as for the sound, Dave's drums seem to be way out in front. Not bad for a drummer but? I don't know, maybe it's just me, but it seems like they haven't played with each other for a long time and are making up time on this new project by musically overcompensating. I could be wrong?

Beat Hit- How deep is Chick into Scientology? To what thread are you referring? What is a synopsis of that interview to which you referred?

IMO,his inspiration has kept running dryer and dryer ever since he started getting into that s...t.

Further, if he was inspired by this LRH story to write the music, I certainly couldn't tell. Still some nice stuff here & there, but generally disappointing.

I find belief in that crapola(*) from an obviously intelligent person very hard to cope with, but I'm not about to accuse the Elrons of sucking the inspiration out of him.

(*) As an example ... we are now denied ever again seeing Chick work with Stanley Clarke, who committed the ultimate crime of leaving the Hubbardistas. Crazy, crazy behaviour.
